I have 'supplies' set aside to do something very similar with the mapping drawn onto a canvas base and terrain pieces layered on just like a regular game board. Of course hidden movement would be part of the concept along with some scale of miniatures so that your are using your 'miniatures on a map'. I only wish I was more confident in my artistic abilties on the canvas. I hae been trying to recruit a more artistic friend, but I may have to make a go of it myself for the first try.Bill Hupphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00431005128546339908noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4495520813308796603.post-37039805804647094502015-08-28T22:45:31.042-04:002015-08-28T22:45:31.042-04:00Looks great. I did play around with the idea of flock or ballast on foam a while ago, then got sidetracked painting figures.pancernihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09108442113999809459noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4495520813308796603.post-6903634592434278572015-08-28T08:59:14.196-04:002015-08-28T08:59:14.196-04:00Eric,

You could even make the number of 'table maps' mentioned and set up a 'box to box' campaign. This type of strategic would allow you to introduce a new 'table map' as you saw fit, or even fog of war a change in the map revealed. Do stay with the idea that some classes of 'terrain' are removable. The change in the addition of a water feature or man made objects would give you great flexibility for a campaign. Please let us follow your ideas by putting them up on the blog. I plan to ruthlessly 'flatter' the ideas. ;-)
Joepancernihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09108442113999809459noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4495520813308796603.post-20211352282171345782015-08-27T21:12:09.970-04:002015-08-27T21:12:09.970-04:00I think it is a great idea. What are you using for campaign rules?
2. Have you considered either cutting the board into quarters and making them geomorphic?
3. Will you do water features the same way?
4. Are the roads inked in?
5. Although not scenic - campaign maps don't need to be - I like the sharp contrasts to differentiate terrain.
6. Is each level of terrain independent and relocatable, or are your hills permanently attached?

Your page was linked to an article on The Miniatures Page. Is that what you have in mind?
